    Job description

    Location: Ennis, MT

    We are searching for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnoses, repair and maintain our diesel-powered vehicles and machinery, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Inspection and Diagnosis: Conduct diagnostic tests on diesel engines and vehicles to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.

    • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including replacing defective parts, conducting oil changes, and servicing brake systems.

    • Collaboration: Work with our field crew to ensure vehicles and equipment are repaired correctly and efficiently.

    • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment, including parts used and labor hours.

    • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and regulations, including DOT compliance for commercial vehicles.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; postsecondary training in Diesel Technology is preferred.

    • Experience: Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or in a related field is often required, typically 1-2 years.

    • Certifications: Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is desirable and can enhance job prospects.

    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, as well as a strong understanding of diesel engine systems and components.

    • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands

    This position is moderately strenuous. Applicants must be able to lift and carry heavy objects. Applicants must be able to work in all weather conditions. This work would typically take place on our construction sites requiring travel from one job site to another. This role will involve working with heavy machinery and requires a focus on safety and efficiency. Activities may include climbing ladders or scaffolding, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling and standing for periods of time. Applicants must be able to see clearly and recognize small details. Applicants must be able to effectively communicate by phone and text messaging.
