    Ecosouth Services is looking to hire an experienced mechanic for our growing Axis, AL. location. An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Diesel mechanics use diagnostic tools and their expertise to identify mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and other systems. Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Immediately report any discrepancies to the Fleet Manager • Ensures compliance with all fleet processes • Under general supervision, performs preventive maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicles and equipment • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns • Conducts safety checks on vehicles • Completes required paperwork utilizing the fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures • Communication Skills : Effective communication to explain issues to customers and collaborate with team members. • Problem-Solving: The ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions. • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, or Other Requirements: • Valid driver’s license and must have a clean driving record. (CDL preferred) • Must be at least 18 years of age • Legally eligible to work in the United States • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check • High school diploma or equivalent (postsecondary education in diesel engine repair preferred). • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or in a similar role. • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) and their components. • Proficiency in utilizing diagnostic equipment and specialized tools. • ASE certifications are often preferred or may be required within a certain timeframe. • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle tasks involving heavy lifting, working in tight spaces, and using various tools. Compensation: $25 - $35 hourly
