    Job Summary

    We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Dietary Technician to join our team in a hospital or long-term care setting. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the dietary department by ensuring that patients receive appropriate nutritional care tailored to their individual needs. This position requires a strong understanding of dietetics, physiology, and the ability to supervise dietary staff effectively.

    Duties

    Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess patient dietary needs and preferences.

    Develop and implement nutrition care plans based on diagnostic evaluations and individual assessments.

    Oversee the preparation and delivery of meals, ensuring compliance with dietary restrictions and guidelines.

    Supervise dietary department staff, providing training and support as needed.

    Monitor tube feeding protocols for patients requiring specialized nutritional support.

    Maintain accurate records of patient dietary intake and nutritional status.

    Assist in the evaluation of food service systems to improve efficiency and quality of care.

    Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and dietary adjustments.

    Qualifications

    BLS Certification

    Graduate of a dietetic technician program

    At least 1 year of experirence

    Knowledge of dietetics, including principles of nutrition and physiology.

    Experience working in a hospital or long-term care environment is preferred.

    Familiarity with acute care settings and their specific dietary requirements.

    Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead a team effectively.

    Proficiency in using dietary management systems for meal planning and documentation.

    Experience with tube feeding procedures is an asset.

    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.

    Ability to conduct diagnostic evaluations related to patient nutrition.
