Summary:
We are seeking a Digital Design Engineer to join our defense contractor team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in 3D modeling, digital twin technology, and data/configuration management. This role is critical for the design, development, and lifecycle management of complex defense systems. You will play a key role in our transition to a full Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach, ensuring our digital models and physical products are perfectly synchronized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Manage Digital Models: Lead the creation and maintenance of intricate 3D computer aided design models and digital twins for defense systems. Use SolidWorks to build precise, fully annotated parametric models that represent real-world components and systems.
- Implement MBSE: Drive the adoption and lead the integration of MBSE principles throughout the product lifecycle. Utilize a SysML tool, such as MagicDraw , to create and manage system models that link requirements, design, analysis, and validation.
- Implement PLM Architecture and Data & Configuration Management: Establish digital data standards and manage all product data within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. The PLM system must be compliant with SolidWorks. Establish and enforce rigorous data and configuration management processes. Ensure every change to a model, drawing, or document is tracked, approved, and correctly versioned. Maintain data integrity and traceability from a component's initial design through to its final disposal.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multi-disciplinary engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure data integrity and digital models are consistent and accurate. You will be the point person for all digital engineering data, resolving discrepancies and ensuring seamless integration between disciplines.
- Documentation and Reporting: Create comprehensive documentation, including technical reports, configuration audit reports, and design specifications. Present progress and findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering. 6 years of experience may be substituted for bachelors.
Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering, with a strong focus on 3D modeling, digital twins, and configuration management in a defense or similar high-tech environment.
Skills:
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise with MagicDraw or similar SysML tool is required.
- Proven experience with a major PLM system (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault Systèmes ENOVIA, PTC Windchill). Preference towards a tool compatible/compliant with SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software, with a strong preference for SolidWorks.
- Deep understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering ( MBSE ) and its application.
- Design & Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex data and guide other team members.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel as required.
- Standard office environment with occasional requirements to visit client sites, labs, or field environments.
