    THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA invites applications for a PROJECT MANAGER AND ENROLLMENT DATA ANALYST in the OFFICE OF ENROLLMENT. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, and plays a critical role on the Enrollment leadership team. The Project Manager and Enrollment Data Analyst ensures that actionable data is proactively provided to enable decision making at all levels of the division. This position also works alongside the directors of Admissions, Alumni, Financial Aid, and Military and Veteran Services offices to manage the seamless execution of multiple complex and varied projects.  The Project Manager and Enrollment Data Analyst must excel while working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This role has a direct impact on the institution's enrollment goals and diversity objectives.

     

    Key duties and responsibilities of this position include:

    DATA ANALYSIS

    • Create interactive data visualizations on trends and key performance metrics related to departments within the Enrollment division.
    • Support enrollment management initiatives through research, data extraction and clear reports.
    • Assist in responding to enrollment management and research related data requests.
    • Work closely with colleagues from Institutional Research and Information Technology to ensure that all reporting meets the highest standards of accuracy and technical efficiency.
    • Manage data reporting and visualization for the Enrollment Division, comprising admission, financial aid, alumni, and Military and Veteran Services.
    • Work closely with teams across the enrollment division to develop and maintain reporting capabilities specific to each team.
    • Write queries and extract large data sets from various systems including customer relationship management (CRM), student information system (SIS) and Tableau. Maintain expert knowledge.
    • Join data from various databases and systems into workable data sets; build data flows that combine, shape, and clean data for analysis; maintain and refresh datasets as needed.
    • Maintain, update and distribute regular scheduled reports.
    • Creates usable strategic information and inference from data and presents the story behind the data.

     

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    • Identify and facilitate the development of project objectives, milestones, schedule and plan.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide project status updates as needed.
    • Define and measure success metrics for projects. Monitor and report change progress, assess the change impacts of projects.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships and influence others to move toward a common vision or goal.
    • Solve issues and problems as they arise.
    • Meet objectives within scope, on time and on budget.
    • Collaborate with directors, other partners on campus and external partners to identify projects that have enrollment implications and process improvements.
    • Lead and facilitate conversations surrounding project. Assign and follow-up on tasks required for completion. Coordinate staff and resources.

    POSITION DETAILS

    • Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
    • Salary for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
    • Anticipated start date: January 2022

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
    • Positive attitude and be a self-starter
    • Highly developed knowledge of programming and SQL database queries and best practices for electronic reporting
    • Working knowledge of enrollment management processes, principles, and reporting needs
    • Experience in data collection and analysis, utilization of query management tools and application software, and project management
    • Effective communication skills (including both verbal and written communications)
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work productively either as a productive member of a team, or independently
    • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field, as well as at least three (3) years of professional experience in data analysis, institutional research and reporting; or any combination of experience and education to successfully perform this position.
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with project management and process improvement
    • Experience working with Slate or other CRM and Banner or other SIS
    • Demonstrated background in innovation
    • Strong understanding of strategic enrollment management and student success principles
    • Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have expert level skills in Slate or other CRM and Banner or other SIS.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience developing predictive models and conducting analyses of consumers/students, competitors, and market behavior.
    • Experience with research, data analysis, and general functions related to enrollment management.
    • Experience in institutional research and reporting within a higher education setting.
