    Job Description

CCX . UX . JR UX DESIGNER

JOIN A GROWING AND EVOLVING ECOMMERCE COMPANY

We are Digital Room: the Los Angeles-based parent company of UPrinting, NextDayFlyers, PrintRunner, Signs and eSigns.com, Packola, LogoSportswear and many others…more about us, though, later. We are actively for a Jr. User Experience (UX) designer. Your work and experience (about 1-3 years worth) show an emphasis or interest in the eCommerce space. That’s great because we have nine primary brands: UPrinting, PrintRunner, LogoSportswear and Signs.com to name a few. You have been developing a firm understanding of user research and usability testing…and how to interpret research inputs to creatively and purposefully improve experiences.

We are looking for creativity, innovation and invention in our pursuits. In terms of UX, we’re not merely best-practice reciters. We’re looking to craft custom experiences that are simple in idea, useful in purpose and elegant in execution. While common practices (our term for best practices) serve as great starting points, we are always looking to evolve where and when we can. If you have an inquisitive mind, this might be a good spot for you.

We are currently outlining, defining and road-mapping several brand overhauls with corresponding site, tool and design system redesigns. These efforts are top initiatives. This role is an opportunity to be a visible, contributing member of an entrepreneurial-style group of talented designers, product managers, writers, marketers and stakeholders.

_* If you are not local to Los Angeles, CA that’s ok. Role can be remote but work on Pacific Time. If you are open to relocating to LA at a point in the future, that would be preferred. _

    HERE’S WHAT’S UP

    • Role will report to our UX design Lead
    • You will work closely with the UX Design Lead and Creative Director while collaborating with the larger visual design team to help execute the Experience goals and objectives in the transformations and evolutions of our digital properties
    • You will also have exposure to product managers, category managers, brand stakeholders and, from time-to-time, our executive council
    • Create and refine user flows, customer and purchase journey maps, personas and customer/user mindsets
    • Create wireframes, prototypes, and outline any necessary specs to support website/brand initiatives and A/B tests
    • Collaborate with visual design to ensure design outputs are consistent with our guidelines and standards
    • Iterate on design, IA, taxonomy, nomenclature, workflows, tasks and components to help improve usability and reduce user learning while measuring site or component conversion rate
    • You will be an active participant in our ongoing development and refinement efforts of all the design systems
    • You will have opportunities co/conduct user research, facilitate user feedback, organize findings and insights and work to incorporate these, and other, discoveries
    • You will be a voice and contributor to the group responsible for improving our Accessibility
    • You care about what you do and are excited to represent, help define and be a steward for UX standards across multiple eCommerce properties
    • Stay current with the User Experience design discipline and be an advocate for user-centered design across the organization

WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE

    • 1-3 years’ experience in UX design and research with a focus on eCommerce…less Shopify, more Hybris- or Salesforce Commerce-type platforms [our platform is custom]
    • Degree in UX design, human-computer interaction, or visual design with an emphasis on information design
    • Proficient in wireframing and prototyping software such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD. We’re primarily a Figma-based team. If your heart is set on Balsamiq, we might be able to accommodate. Axure, however…you’re out of luck.
    • Some experience creating standard User Centric Design (UCD) documents such as user flows, product and purchase flows, personas, heuristic evaluations, and information architecture diagrams would be great
    • Experience with UserTesting.com would be helpful
    • An ability to iterate quickly and efficiently
    • An ability to show working experience in UX design conventions for web and mobile responsive experiences
    • Communication skills with an ability to distill UX terminology and concepts down to easily understood language
    • A collaborative mindset with the understanding that you will be interacting with some great people across multiple departments including customer service, design & creative, marketing, operations, technology and product
    • Experience working in an Agile software development cycle
    • Superior project management and communication skills

    IF YOU HAVE…

    • agency experience and/or
    • Bootstrap and CCS Grid experience and/or
    • an understanding of the JTBD theory or have implemented it or have been a part of implementing it and/or
    • IBM’s Enterprise Design Thinking qualifications

…let us know. These are certainly not required but our Group CD would be interested.

    WHAT YOU WILL GET

    • Opportunities to work and collaborate with top executives directly
    • Enjoy being a vocal member of a diverse, collaborative and evolving digital marketing team
    • Make a difference in a nimble company that is a pioneer in the web-to-print industry
    • Ability to have significant UX input and contribute to strategy
    • Competitive Salary…DOE
    • Fabulous Employee Discounts across all products
    • Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage available
    • 401K & company match
    • Paid Holidays & Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Time
    • Company-sponsored conferences, trainings, lunch and learn activities and more …
