    DigitalFish has an immediate need for a TECHNICAL ARTIST – MATERIALS AND SHADING to help us create the future of user experiences in mixed reality (AR/VR/MR).

    You will be working with the FACEBOOK AR/VR group on emerging platforms to bring new AR experiences that take advantage of recent advances in computer vision, machine learning and AI. DigitalFish has long been a trusted partner of leading digital media companies, and we are at the center of their efforts to build a new generation of platforms and experiences. Current and past customers include FACEBOOK, GOOGLE, PIXAR, DREAMWORKS, ACTIVISION, LEGO, DISNEY/ESPN, NASA and many others.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Author new shaders and prototype imaginative scenes for AR experiences
    • Create amazing post-processing effects on a live video feed
    • Develop new techniques to represent non-photorealistic styles
    • Setup lighting systems and materials for other artists in Unity
    • Bake out simulations in Maya or Houdini to Unity
    • Work with the Art Director to capture the vision of the concept art
    • Document shading libraries, tools and common practices

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • BS/BA in Computer Science or related engineering field
    • 3-5 years production work experience in games or film, ideally in a VFX role
    • Proficient use of GLSL, HLSL or similar shading language
    • Experienced with Unity shader pipeline
    • Past experience with Maya and Houdini
    • Knowledge of Unity particle system creation
    • Proficient in linear algebra, with practical knowledge of transformations using matrices, vectors, and quaternions
    • Familiarity with real-time graphics methods and constraints
    • Knowledge of Compute shaders a plus
    • Experience with agile development practices, source control, QA processes
    • Distributed team development experience is a plus
    • Excellent communication skills to work with multi-functional teams
    • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

    LOCATION

    This is a full-time position on-site in Menlo Park, CA with free transportation available from much of the Bay Area.
