    DigitalFish has an immediate need for a TECHNICAL ARTIST with professional game-production experience using Unreal Engine 4 (UE4).

    In this role, you will be working on a new, mission-critical project in close partnership with a world-renowned digital media and hardware company, helping create and apply pipeline systems and tools supporting next-generation XR devices. You can expect to encounter a broad set of clients and projects over time; DigitalFish has worked with many partners including ACTIVISION, FACEBOOK, GOOGLE, LEGO, NASA, PIXAR and DREAMWORKS.

    This position requires a keen understanding of the state of the art in games development, graphics and pipelines for creation and delivery of assets for real-time game engines.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Represent DigitalFish as a trusted domain expert with visibility and exposure across multifunctional groups creating real-time and offline synthetic content in support of next-gen XR device development
    • Define technical requirements for integration of geometry, rigging, animation / mocap, shading and material assets from multiple sources into UE4
    • Develop and apply novel shaders within UE4 to faithfully represent a wide variety of material attributes
    • Define opportunities for automation and collaborate with Engineering to create and deploy tools that allow asset ingest, scene assembly and image generation at massive scale
    • Collaborate with multiple teams in understanding the current state of internal asset libraries, simulation workflows, and device-sensor capabilities while supporting the development of future technology
    • Take ownership of issues arising from outlier cases in asset conversion, data organization and pipeline processes
    • Develop, maintain and communicate technical-art guidelines and best-practices
    • Partner with all disciplines across multiple organizations to ensure we meet strategic program goals

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • BS/BA in Computer Science or Digital Media, or equivalent industry experience
    • Minimum 4 years professional game-development experience, including significant experience at an AAA studio
    • Deep understanding of and professional experience working with UE4
    • Current, well-rounded expertise in content-production and development techniques using a broad range of standard DCC tools (Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, etc.)
    • Solid knowledge of current real-time character-rigging, mocap, skinning and shading techniques
    • Experience creating, debugging and enhancing scripts and plugins for DCC tools (Python, C++, etc.)
    • Self-motivated with strong communications skills and able to work both in a team and independently
    • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

    LOCATION

    You will begin working virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, possibly transitioning late this year to work at the client's site in Sunnyvale.
