Golden Heart is hiring compassionate Direct Support Professionals to work with higher-functioning individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, encouraging independence, and supporting individuals as they grow in life skills and personal goals without the demands of long shifts.
About the Role
In this position, you will provide short, focused support sessions that help individuals gain confidence and independence in everyday life.
You are not just assisting, but you are coaching, encouraging, and celebrating progress as clients work toward their personal goals.
Duties include, but tailored to the persons service plan:
Support individuals in developing daily living and independent life skills
Assist with community activities, errands, and social engagement
Provide guidance on routines such as budgeting, cooking, hygiene, and time management
Encourage goal progress based on each client’s individualized plan
Promote confidence, independence, and decision-making skills
Build positive, respectful relationships with clients
Document services provided during each shift

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
1 year of caregiving, DSP, or related experience required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently in community settings
Dependable, patient, and encouraging personality
