Overview: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland and the surrounding area. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life. You will work closely with clients in their homes and within the community, fostering an environment of encouragement and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care Assistance: Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
Community Integration: Support clients in participating in community activities, outings, and appointments, promoting socialization and engagement.
Skill Development: Implement individualized support plans, focusing on skill-building, goal attainment, and personal growth for clients.
Transportation: Safely transport clients to and from appointments, activities, and community resources. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client progress and activities, reporting any significant changes to supervisors.
Safety and Wellness: Ensure a safe living environment, monitor health and safety needs, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with family members, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the client's care.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in human services preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and families.
Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and weekdays.
Basic understanding of developmental disabilities is a plus.
First Aid/CPR certification required (training can be obtained).
