Job description:
Job Summary The Community Participation Support (CPS) Staff provides direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community settings. The role focuses on helping individuals build independence, improve social and communication skills, increase community involvement, and work toward personal goals identified in their ISP. CPS staff assist individuals with participating in meaningful activities such as recreation, volunteering, fitness, education, and employment exploration while ensuring health, safety, and positive community experiences. Staff provide encouragement, guidance, and supervision based on each individual’s support needs and complete accurate documentation in compliance with ODP regulations and agency standards.
Responsibilities
Support individuals during community activities and outings
Assist with community participation and inclusion
Encourage social interaction and communication skills
Help individuals build independence and daily living skills
Provide verbal prompts, reminders, and encouragement as needed
Support individuals with following schedules and routines
Assist with employment exploration and volunteer opportunities
Encourage decision-making and personal choice
Help individuals practice safety skills in the community
Support participation in fitness, recreation, and educational activities
Assist with money management and purchasing during outings when needed
Maintain professional interactions with individuals, families, and community members
Transport individuals safely to and from activities if required
Complete accurate service documentation following ODP CPS guidelines
Document activities completed, supports provided, and individual responses
Support ISP goals and outcomes during all activities
Encourage positive behavior and appropriate community engagement
Assist individuals with building friendships and natural supports
Follow agency policies, ODP standards, and confidentiality requirements
Job Qualification – CPS Staff
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to work independently and in community settings
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to provide respectful and professional support to individuals with disabilities
Basic computer and documentation skills
Ability to follow ISP goals, behavior plans, and ODP regulations
Ability to assist individuals with community participation and daily activities
Dependable, patient, and organized
Shift availability:
Day Shift 41 Hours (Sunday -Tuesday 8am - 7.30pm, Wednesday 8am - 2.30)
Day Shift 41 Hours (Wednesday 2.30pm - 7.30pm, Thursday - Saturday 8am - 7.30pm)
