Job Summary
Direct Support Staff provide compassionate, hands-on support to individuals with disabilities and/or special needs. The role focuses on assisting individuals with daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring safety, and supporting personal goals in home and community environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Support meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders
Provide community integration support, including transportation and participation in activities
Follow individual service plans (ISPs) and care plans
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment
Monitor and document behaviors, progress, and incidents accurately
Use positive behavior support strategies when needed
Communicate effectively with supervisors, and care teams
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies and regulations
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 18 years of age
Ability to pass criminal background checks and reference verification
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Ability to lift, reposition, and assist clients as needed
Strong communication skills and a caring, professional demeanor
Physical & Emotional Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
Ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and professionally
