    Job Description

    ** What You Get to Do:**

    The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) within residential group homes in the Portland Metro Area. This is a full time, permanent position. Schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance

    This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.

    • Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
    • Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.
    • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
    • Prepare meals and snacks. May include grocery shopping.
    • Perform housekeeping and laundry duties
    • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
    • Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands
    • Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed.
    • Other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is ** required.**
    • Must have ** valid driver's license & vehicle** to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule
    • Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral
    • Have a passion to help others through person-centered care
    • Works well independently
    • Dependable, adaptable, and flexible
    • Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
    • Must be able to provide references
    • 18 years of age or older
    • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training

    Successful candidates will be required to meet all Oregon State Department of Human Services requirements
