Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in LaPlata, MD! Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and support to children and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities
Assist individuals with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
Facilitate community integration activities and encourage social participation
Administer medications and follow health care protocols as directed
Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
Promote individual independence, dignity, and self-advocacy in all interactions
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Technician certifications
