About the Role
X-Tra Mile Residential Care is seeking a dependable and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an individual in a structured home setting. This role requires consistency, strong engagement, and the ability to provide hands-on support with daily routines, community involvement, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate is energetic, attentive, and able to build positive rapport while maintaining structure and expectations.
Schedule
Primary Shifts:
Days: Monday – Friday
2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
10:00 PM – 9:00 AM
Every Other Weekend (Mandatory):
Saturday - Sunday
9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
9:00 PM – 9:00 AM
Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support and supervision in a residential setting
Assist with daily living skills including household chores, routines, and organization
Support medication administration in accordance with training and agency policies
Transport and accompany individual to appointments and community activities
Ensure consistent engagement and undivided attention during shift
Implement structured routines and assist with maintaining daily schedules
Use positive redirection and behavior support techniques when needed
Monitor and respond appropriately to changes in mood, behavior, or environment
Support participation in meaningful activities, including community and faith-based involvement
Maintain accurate documentation per agency and state guidelines
Assist with personal hygiene needs and dressing
Assist with mobility, walking, and physical therapy exercises
Prepare meals and snacks
Light housekeeping activities
Dispense medication
Provide companionship
Assist with errands and shopping
Requirements
Must have a positive attitude, patience, and strong work ethic
Ability to stay engaged and provide consistent, focused support throughout shift
Strong skills in redirection, de-escalation, and routine implementation
Ability to read and respond to emotional cues and behavioral changes
Must be comfortable working in a shared living environment with multiple individuals and care teams
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance required
High school diploma or GED required
Must pass background checks in accordance with state regulations
First aid and CPR-certified
Compassionate, respectful, ethical
Ability to adhere to all health and safety guidelines
