We are seeking a warm, energetic, and compassionate Direct Support Professional to support a young woman with Autism in her home and community.
She is an active, creative, and joyful person who loves dance, fashion, baking/decorating cupcakes, crafts, soccer, pickleball, basketball (“shooting hoops”), swimming, card games, board games – Uno, Wordle, Monopoly are some of her favorites. She also enjoys computer games, theater, and all things “girly,” with a special fondness for Disney Princesses. She thrives with staff who are playful, engaging, and willing to join in her interests. This position is part-time, averaging 12 hours per week.
What the role looks like:
• Provide person-centered support in the home and community
• Encourage participation in preferred activities but also introduce new activities building off of these preferred ones (sports, dance, baking, crafts, games)
• Support emotional regulation and coping with anxiety
• Promote independence, confidence, and social connection
• Help maintain routines and meaningful engagement.
Ideal candidate:
• Patient, kind, and enthusiastic
• High energy and enjoys being active – struggles with meaningful conversation at times due to anxiety
• Comfortable dancing, and being active but mostly in home environment and dance studio where she has danced for years.
• Experience supporting individuals with anxiety (preferred)
• Prior behavior support experience is a plus
• Reliable, communicative, and team-oriented
