Job Summary
Renew Residential Services is seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide quality care and meaningful support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health-related challenges in their homes & communities. Essential Responsibilities
Assist the clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
Support clients during meals by preparing nutritious meals, assisting with eating as needed, and maintaining a clean dining environment
Assist clients with mobility
Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including developmental disabilities, behavior support plans, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, and memory care strategies
Implement behavior support strategies as trained and document accurately
Administer medications in accordance with company policy and training
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and laundry
Document clients progress through detailed notes on patient observation, behavior changes, and care provided
Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, families, and external providers
Respond appropriately to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and safety concerns
Uphold all company policies, ethical standards, and state regulations
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to pass background checks and required screenings
Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care settings is preferred
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
Experience with medication administration and care plan implementation is desirable
Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with people with disabilities or age-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
Familiarity with working within HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
Valid driver’s license may be required for community outings or transportation assistance for full time day shift positions
A caring attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
