JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a DIRECT SUPPORT SPECIALIST in COWPENS, South Carolina. Our client is a well-established institution providing residential care. The DIRECT SUPPORT SPECIALIST is responsible for training and implementing objectives in the areas of self-help, academics, recreation/leisure, hygiene, and other life skills ultimately preparing residents to live more independently.

SHIFT: MONDAY-FRIDAY 2:00PM-11:00PM, SATURDAY-SUNDAY: 8:00AM-8:00PM

Responsibilities of a DIRECT SUPPORT SPECIALIST include:

• Assist in making sure residents have proper hygiene.
• Meal prep
• Shopping
• Transporting
• Ensures that all residents are supported through opportunities to learn and develop new skills.
• Actively engages with residents in a positive and meaningful manner.
• Communicate all issues or concerns to the appropriate supervisor/manager promptly.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
• Development, training, and support of the residents with an aim towards independence
• Proper and timely documentation of daily events, transportation, observations, incidents, resident growth, dietary, and medical/ behavioral information.

REQUIRED Experience and Education:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a 9th-grade education or higher.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a valid driver's license (3-year driving record required)
• Minimal lifting required. All lifting is lift assisted.
• Basic computer skills a PLUS
