  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking to hire a qualified youth worker to be on our residential team at our crisis shelter and transitional living program. We are looking for applicants that have experience working with youth that have experienced homelessness, who have traumatic histories, identify as LGBTQ, are gender non-conforming and/or who often face multiple issues and have complex needs. Services are provided in an LGBT safe and affirming environment and our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history working with this population. 

    Primary Responsibilities

    +Supervise nightly routines to meet the needs of children living within the shelter - this includes actively engaging with youth, completing necessary documentation, assuring living spaces are clean and safe, administering medications, and providing information and referrals as appropriate

    +Provide support and interact with youth in a trauma-sensitive manner that promotes respect, honesty, non-judgment and empathy

    + Work in collaboration with counselors, case managers, administrative staff, and all other members to ensure each child staying at YESS receives the best care possible.

    +Other duties as assigned

    Education Requirements

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred or equivalent experience in residential program. High School Diploma required.

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with at risk youth ages 18-24.

    SKILLS: Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills. Must be computer literate (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work with other staff members, clients, vendors and the public.
