    Highly-Ranked Premier Accounting Firm is looking for a Tax Manager to join their team.

    Responsibilities:

    The Tax Manager will be responsible for accurate, effective, complete, and timely preparation of all client tax returns prepared individually and by supervising others. This position requires extensive technical skills in multiple tax and accounting areas, along with well-developed and applied management and supervisory skills. The Tax Manager will also assist in solving any tax issues.

    Essential Functions:

    • Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any intricacy.
    • Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to tax preparers as needed.
    • Delegate, manage and perform tax research projects to accomplish an accurate and efficient product.
    • Actively participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts to support the Auditing and Accounting teams with larger clients.
    • Participate in firm's committees and management meetings.
    • Serve as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and other personnel on specific tax issues and/or inquiries.
    • Support and supervise tax preparers with complex business returns.
    • Assumes client service responsibility for clients the tax manager deals with directly or clients where responsibility is delegated from the partner.
    • Communicates with appropriate firm staff regarding significant tax and tax developments affecting the firm's clients.
    • Retains knowledge on qualifications of all tax staff members and reviews staff assignments for suitability.
    • Cultivates trained staff by assisting in recruiting, performance reviews, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development initiatives.
    • Willing to be part of Firm's Mentoring Program.
    • Maintain complete knowledge of the firm’s philosophy and its opinions on tax matters.
    • Keep up to date with the economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.
    • Partake in firm’s practice development efforts through involvement industry activities, and referrals.
    • Responsible for the engagement profitability — billings and collections.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

    • Big 4 experience preferred or Large Public Accounting firm background
    • Managerial/Supervisory Experience
    • 5+ years of experience performing research and providing quality technical advice.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Leadership and supervisory skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including proven experience liaising with clients.
    • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and use good judgment.
    • Proficiency in use of computer tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning software programs.

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related equivalent.
    • Must have CPA certification or progress towards CPA.
    • Masters of Science degree in Taxation or a J.D. highly preferred.
    • Minimum of 40 hours of continuing education is required each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills, as well as to maintain license requirements.
