    Directional Drill Foreman / Locator Augusta Infrastructure Group is hiring an experienced Directional Drill Foreman / Locator to lead production in the field. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring accuracy, jobsite safety, and leading a 3-person drilling crew to get the work done right the first time. Current daily work is based in West Michigan, with travel required across the state of Michigan as projects change. If you know Falcon equipment, understand underground utilities, and can keep a crew moving when conditions get tough, we want to talk to you. What You’ll Do • Operate Falcon F5+ locating systems with precision and confidence • Lead and coordinate a 3-person HDD crew , setting the pace and expectations on site • Read and interpret construction plans, bore profiles, and utility maps • Verify underground utility locations, depths, and tolerances • Maintain accurate bore logs, locate data, and daily production reports • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with job-site safety requirements • Troubleshoot field issues and keep production moving without cutting corners • Work closely with supervisors and project teams to meet schedule and quality goals Qualifications & Requirements • Hands-on experience operating Falcon F5+ locating systems (required) • Strong understanding of HDD operations and underground utility locating • Ability to read construction plans, bore profiles, and utility maps • General knowledge of construction methods and jobsite safety • Comfortable working in trenches, manholes, tunnels, and confined spaces • Physically capable of frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 75 lbs independently • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to lead by example • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel throughout Michigan What We Offer • Competitive Pay: $25–$30/hr, depending on experience • Full Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision • Travel Perks: $40 daily per diem and company-paid hotel rooms when traveling • Training & Growth: Paid training, certification renewals, and advancement opportunities • Steady Work: Growing company with long-term contracts and a full schedule About Augusta Infrastructure Group • At Augusta, we work hard, look out for each other, and take pride in leaving every job site better than we found it. Responsibilities: • Accurately locate and track the drill head using Falcon F5+ locating systems • Lead and direct daily drilling operations for a 3-person HDD crew • Ensure all work meets project specifications, bore profiles, and tolerance requirements • Monitor crew activities, ground conditions, and tooling to maintain productivity and safety • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site • Properly operate, inspect, and maintain locating and support equipment • Communicate clearly with crew members to coordinate tasks and keep work moving efficiently Administrative Duties • Maintain accurate jobsite documentation, including locate tickets, safety logs, bore logs, and daily production reports • Conduct pre-job planning and daily safety briefings with the crew • Train, mentor, and hold crew members accountable for safe and productive work practices • Verify all utilities are properly located, marked, and cleared prior to drilling or excavation Construction & Safety Duties • Assist with potholing, remediation, setting handholes, pulling fiber, and related construction tasks as needed • Install conduit into existing electrical and telecommunications systems when required • Enforce all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company standards • Set up, maintain, and remove barricades, signage, and traffic control to establish safe work zones • Respond to outages, emergencies, or service disruptions as needed (occasional after-hours work may be required) Qualifications: Requirements & QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of locating experience (telecommunications or utilities) • Proven ability to work with crews in the field, strong leadership, and communication skills • Experience with Vermeer horizontal directional drills required • Strong understanding of underground utility construction methods, equipment, and safety standards • Ability to pass background and drug screening • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job specifications, and utility maps • Mechanical aptitude, with the ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting and repairs • Valid Class A CDL preferred; a clean driving record is required • OSHA 10 Certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire) • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and travel as required Compensation: $25 - $30 hourly
