    Directional Drill Operator (Vermeer D20x22) – Telecommunications Augusta is seeking an experienced Directional Drill Operator to support telecommunications construction projects. This hands-on role involves operating a Vermeer D20x22 directional drill to install fiber optic and telecom conduit in a safe, precise, and efficient manner. Daily work is currently based in West Michigan, with travel required throughout the state of Michigan as project locations change. Responsibilities: What You’ll Do • Operate a Vermeer D20x22 directional drill for telecommunications conduit and fiber installations • Execute bore plans while maintaining proper depth, alignment, and required utility clearances • Read and interpret construction drawings, bore profiles, and telecom prints • Maintain proper separation from existing underground utilities (gas, electric, water, sewer, etc.) • Monitor drilling fluid systems and maintain proper mud flow and pressures • Perform daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance • Complete bore logs and daily production reports accurately • Follow all telecom and job-site safety requirements • Troubleshoot ground conditions and equipment issues to maintain steady production • Demonstrate strong reliability and professionalism by arriving on time each day, prepared to work and contribute to the crew Qualifications: Qualifications & Requirements • Proven experience operating a Vermeer D20x22 (or a similar mid-size HDD drill) — required • Experience working on telecommunications or fiber installation projects • Strong understanding of underground utility awareness and safe digging practices • Ability to read telecom construction prints and bore profiles • Knowledge of drilling fluids, including proper mixing and management • General understanding of construction methods and jobsite safety standards • Physically capable of bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 75 lbs independentlyDependable, self-motivated , and able to work with minimal supervision • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel throughout MichiganValid Class A CDL preferred ; a clean driving record is requiredOSHA 10 Certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire) Compensation: $24 - $28 hourly
