    Role Overview:

    Could you be our next Director, Compliance Architecture? **** Globe Life is looking for a Director, Compliance Architecture to join the team!

    In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining the standards and controls – the policies, procedures, protocols, and internal controls – by which the Compliance Department will promote, educate, and ensure compliance across Globe Life’s business operations with the laws and regulations applicable to Globe Life. The Director will collaborate with other members of the Compliance Department and Legal to build and manage Globe Life’s compliance program and partner with cross-functional partners across the enterprise to drive and implement compliance initiatives for Globe Life.

    This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX ( WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).


    What You Will Do:

    • In close collaboration with Regulatory Counsels in Legal, design internal control specifications which capture the legal and regulatory requirements that attach to the company.
    • Work with business units to effectively operationalize the internal control environment for compliance in the policies and procedures of the Company’s operations.
    • Work with Compliance leadership to support the creation of Entity, Subsidiary, and department level policies which will create a culture of compliance and accountability with our operations.
    • Work with Compliance and business leadership to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the existing compliance policies, procedures, processes, and control structure, and conduct analysis and identify gaps in the program.
    • Collaboratively design and develop new procedures and processes and/or improve the existing procedures and processes to address any identified gaps in the compliance control environment and ensure efficient and effective compliance with legal and regulatory compliance throughout the enterprise.
    • In close collaboration with the Legal Department, maintain knowledge of any new regulations or regulatory changes and design, revise and work to operationalize changes to ensure and continuously updated compliance control structure.
    • In close collaboration with business sections and Compliance Business Partners, conduct a periodical review of the effectiveness of compliance processes and solicit feedback from business leaders, and revise processes or develop new processes as necessary.
    • In close collaboration with Compliance Directors and Internal Audit, analyze the effectiveness of audit controls, identify gaps, and develop solutions to address the gaps.
    • Analyze the cause of any compliance process failures as they occur. Identify the weaknesses and gaps in the affected compliance controls, and design and develop new processes and solutions to prevent recurrence.
    • Participate in the implementation of periodic risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and help design risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address any identified gaps efficiently.
    • Provide training on revised or newly developed internal controls and respond to any inquiries as necessary.
    • Maintain expert knowledge of compliance best practices and ways to improve the Company’s legal and regulatory compliance processes.
    • The functional lead for Compliance in Mergers and Acquisitions.
    • Coordinate the gathering of information in response to DOI surveys.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    What You Can Bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience handling compliance in a regulated industry, particularly with respect to life and healthcare insurance industry or equivalent experience required.
    • 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and drive execution.
    • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills and professionalism to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and discretion.
    • Demonstrated commitment to compliance, ethics, and accountability.
    • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and requirements.
    • Thorough understanding of the insurance industry (or ability to quickly gain such understanding), functions of other departments, and organizational relationships.
    • Ability to apply this understanding to improve efficiency in the Company’s insurance regulatory compliance and risk management structure.
    • Proficiency in IT and data management related to a heavily regulated industry, particularly with respect to the insurance industry.
