Director, Integrated Facilities Management
Position Summary: The Director of Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) leads the global strategic and tactical execution of Facilities Operations and Maintenance offerings for The Building People. This role oversees all aspects of the IFM business line, serving as the primary representative for client relationships, staff leadership, and service delivery. Reporting to the Vice President of IFM, the Director operates independently and is accountable for business growth, operational excellence, and financial performance across multiple contracts and projects.
The Director mentors program managers and staff, drives marketing and business development efforts, and ensures delivery excellence aligned with The Building People’s strategic objectives. The IFM organization supports clients in achieving mission success through high-quality, compliant, and efficient facilities operations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operations
- Lead the global strategic and tactical implementation of all IFM Facilities Operations and Maintenance offerings
- Direct the IFM business unit to achieve financial, operational, and strategic objectives
- Oversee multiple IFM contracts and projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, schedule, and profitability targets are met
- Establish budgets and objectives, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Direct contract activities, resource planning, and delivery execution through subordinate managers
Client Relationship Management & Business Development
- Serve as the primary executive point of contact for IFM clients and partners
- Develop and manage long-term client relationships within assigned market sectors
- Actively participate in marketing and cross-selling efforts beyond current scope requirements
- Maintain The Building People’s professional reputation through exemplary client engagement
- Lead proposal development activities, including presentations, fee negotiations, proposal review and approval, and contract execution
Financial Oversight & Business Planning
- Develop short-term and long-term business development strategies for assigned market sectors
- Review work-in-progress and forecasted workload to ensure profitability and effective staff utilization
- Oversee contracts at various stages to ensure budgets are monitored, variances explained, and profitability maintained
- Support accounts receivable collections by coordinating between internal finance teams and client representatives
- Ensure profitable completion of all assigned projects
Program & Technical Oversight
- Manage technical and contractual aspects of IFM projects, including:
- Terms of agreement and scope changes
- Schedule and milestone adherence
- Resource planning (personnel and financial)
- Monitor project progress and billing against budget through regular leadership reviews
- Ensure compliance with The Building People’s quality standards
- Coordinate design reviews and verify technical quality and compliance
- Conduct site visits (in-state and out-of-state) to document conditions and verify execution (overnight travel may be required)
- Resolve engineering design issues through coordination with clients, architects, and technical teams
- Perform technical analyses, calculations, research, and reporting related to IFM operations
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, interview, and select staff in coordination with senior leadership
- Conduct performance evaluations, set performance goals, and manage disciplinary actions and terminations as required
- Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to develop staff capabilities and career growth
- Ensure company policies and procedures are applied consistently and fairly
- Develop tools, workflows, and resources to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
- Maintain staffing projections, task management tools, and team management resources
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Infrastructure Operations, Facilities Management, and MEP installations
- Broad knowledge of engineering principles, construction methods, building materials, and field operations
- Strong understanding of technical and cost implications related to design features and project requirements
- Experience with work planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and contract execution
- Knowledge of government compliance, regulatory standards, and environmental requirements
- Demonstrated ability to prepare strategic plans and user-friendly planning tools
- Proven executive-level leadership experience within a skilled trades or facilities services organization
Preferred Skills
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more MEP trades with hands-on installation and project management experience
- Experience integrating sustainability principles into facilities design and construction
- Strong business development background with demonstrated revenue growth success
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and make timely executive decisions
- Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of operating with minimal supervision
- Trade School training or Associate’s degree
- Professional certifications such as IFMA, BOMA, BOMI, PMP, or similar
- Licensed Journeyman (past or present) in a skilled trade

- Pay: $140,000 - $180,000
