The National Alliance for Eating Disorders is seeking an experienced development professional eager to take the next step in their career. As Director of Development, you will build and lead a comprehensive national fundraising strategy—with a strong focus on major gifts, corporate partnerships, and foundation support—to significantly grow revenue and deepen our life-saving impact. This role is both strategic and hands-on, ideal for a leader who thrives in building systems, cultivating meaningful relationships, and driving results. You’ll collaborate closely with the Founder and CEO, Board of Directors, and senior volunteers to shape and execute a fundraising vision that supports The Alliance’s continued national expansion. Responsibilities: Major Gifts: • Launch and lead a national major gifts program, leveraging strong community support—particularly in Palm Beach—as a foundation for expansion. • Implement existing strategies and develop new, innovative approaches to secure major gifts and grow philanthropic revenue. • Cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with donors, ensuring they feel valued, engaged, and clearly understand their impact. • Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors through proactive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. • Research and engage new prospective donors and financial advisors to build a robust pipeline of long-term supporters. • Serve as a strategic partner to the Founder and CEO to identify and explore additional revenue opportunities that support national growth. Corporate Foundation Partnerships: • Oversee all aspects of foundation grants, including research, proposal writing, submission, and ongoing grant management and reporting. • Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsorships and strategic partnerships aligned with The Alliance’s mission and values. • Develop and manage corporate giving initiatives such as cause marketing campaigns, employee matching gifts, and event sponsorships. • Leverage corporate relationships to grow revenue and raise visibility for The Alliance’s brand and programs. Strategic Planning Leadership: • Partner with executive leadership to shape and implement a long-term fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and growth goals. • Monitor and adapt to fundraising trends and best practices, ensuring The Alliance remains innovative and competitive in the philanthropic landscape. • Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO and Board of Directors on fundraising performance, pipeline development, and key outcomes. Team Collaboration Management: • Collaborate cross-functionally with communications, programs, and operations teams to ensure alignment and support for fundraising efforts. • Support board and volunteer engagement in fundraising through training, materials, and strategy support. Donor Communications Engagement: • Work with communications staff to develop donor-facing materials, including appeals, newsletters, annual reports, and impact stories. • Create and manage stewardship strategies that ensure donors are acknowledged and retained through thoughtful, mission-aligned engagement. • Plan and execute donor cultivation and recognition events—both in-person and virtual—to deepen donor relationships and drive giving. Data Systems Management: • Oversee donor database (CRM) systems, ensuring clean data, donor segmentation, accurate reporting, and efficient processes. • Analyze donor data to inform strategy, track campaign effectiveness, and guide decision-making. • Ensure compliance with fundraising laws, ethical guidelines, and donor privacy policies. Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a seasoned, strategic, and relationship-driven fundraiser with a passion for advancing The Alliance’s mission. They bring deep experience in major gifts and a proven track record of building successful, scalable fundraising programs. Required Qualifications Skills: • Deep commitment to the mission and values of the National Alliance for Eating Disorders. • Proven success in cultivating and securing six- and seven-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals and corporations. • Demonstrated ability to build, implement, and scale a major gifts program that delivers sustained and growing revenue. • Strong relationship-building skills with a donor-centric approach and a passion for connecting people to impact. • Experience working with or supporting external stakeholders such as donors, board members, and senior volunteers. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor-facing materials and presentations. • Proficiency in CRM platforms (DonorPerfect preferred), with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. • Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with a data-driven approach to strategy and problem-solving.
