The Director of Government Relations is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s political affairs and engagement strategy, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement. This role leads outreach to elected officials, community leaders, advocacy groups, and donors; oversees messaging related to public policy and strategic planning; and ensures alignment between the organization’s goals, public policy priorities, and grassroots engagement activities. The Director of Government Relations serves as a senior advisor to executive leadership and acts as the primary liaison between the organization and the broader political, civic, and governmental landscape. Responsibilities: • Develop and execute political and community engagement strategy for the Denton area. • Build relationships with local elected officials, government staff, and community stakeholders. • Represent the organization at meetings, community events, and civic functions. • Track local and state policy issues relevant to Denton and prepare briefings for leadership. • Lead coalition building with business groups, chambers, nonprofits, and community organizations. • Support fundraising, donor outreach, and political events as needed. • Oversee messaging related to public policy and external affairs, outreach campaigns, and volunteer/grassroots efforts. Qualifications: • Experience in political campaigns, government relations, community organizing, or public affairs. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. • Knowledge of Denton’s civic landscape, political environment, and community priorities. • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment. • Preferred: Experience in Texas politics, issue advocacy, or local government. Compensation: $50,000
