AKB Law needs an experienced operator who can parachute in, create order from chaos, and build the systems that allow us to scale double our revenue. This is a 6-9 month engagement to: • Install metrics and accountability systems • Train the team to operate without constant founder involvement • Identify and fix the biggest operational bottlenecks • Potentially transition to full-time Director of Operations (if that's a fit for both parties) However, if both parties agree, this role can convert to full-time Director of Operations at month 6-9 with: • Base salary: $75,000-$95,000 • Performance bonus structure • Full benefits package Responsibilities: WHAT YOU'LL DO (20 Hours/Week) Core Responsibilities: Weeks 1-4: Assessment & Quick Wins • Audit current operations, team structure, and metrics (or lack thereof) • Interview the founder and team to identify bottlenecks • Implement immediate improvements (low-hanging fruit that creates time/clarity) • Set up a basic revenue tracking dashboard • Document current processes (even if they're broken) Deliverable: Assessment report with top 5 priorities and 90-day roadmap Months 2-3: Install Accountability Systems • Launch weekly metrics review with founder (Mondays, 30 min) • Implement weekly leadership team meeting (you run it) • Create a case tracking system (pipeline, velocity, settlement values) • Build a hiring pipeline for the next key role (likely Senior Attorney) • Train the team on new processes and hold them to it Deliverable: Metrics dashboard live, weekly meetings running, at least 1 new SOP implemented Months 4-6: Build for Scale • Refine the case intake and qualification process • Improve settlement velocity (identify delays, create playbooks) • Hire and onboard at least 1 new team member • Document all core processes (intake → case management → settlement → close) • Prepare for full-time ops hire (could be you or someone else) Deliverable: Firm operating with clear metrics, documented processes, founder spending <30% time on case work Months 7-9: Transition • Either convert to a full-time Director of Operations OR • Hire and train your replacement (full-time Director of Ops) • Hand off all systems and processes • Exit with firm operating independently Deliverable: Full handoff documentation, firm ready to scale to $3M+ Your Weekly Schedule (20 Hours) Mondays (3 hours): • Review metrics from the previous week • 30-minute check-in with the founder • Leadership team meeting (1 hour) • Identify the top 3 priorities for the week Tuesdays-Thursdays (4-5 hours/day): • Project work (process documentation, system implementation, hiring) • Team check-ins and accountability conversations • Problem-solving and firefighting as needed Fridays (2 hours): • Week-in-review: what got done, what didn't, why • Prep for next week Asynchronous: • Available via Slack/email for urgent issues (1-2 hour response time during business hours) • Monthly strategy session with founder (90 minutes) Qualifications: Required: • 7+ years operations/management experience (law firm or professional services strongly preferred) • You've done this before—you know what good operations look like • Comfortable working independently with minimal direction • Strong project management and communication skills • Experience building systems from scratch (not just maintaining existing ones) • Can work remotely but travel to Indianapolis monthly (or as needed) Ideal Background: • Former law firm COO/Director of Ops who now does fractional work • Legal operations consultant with employment law experience • Business operations expert who's scaled multiple small businesses • EOS Implementer or similar framework experience You're a Fit If: • You can diagnose problems fast and implement solutions faster • You're comfortable being the "bad guy" when accountability is needed • You don't need credit—you care about results • You can context-switch between strategic thinking and execution • You've built operations playbooks and know what works (and what doesn't) Compensation: $40 - $55 hourly
