    Job Summary

The Director of Renewable Fuels Compliance & Regulatory Advisory leads the development and delivery of regulatory compliance, commercialization, and strategic advisory services for renewable fuel producers participating in domestic and international low-carbon fuel markets. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients by designing compliance programs, optimizing environmental credit generation, navigating evolving regulatory requirements, and helping organizations maximize the commercial value of renewable fuel production.

The Director oversees a multidisciplinary team responsible for regulatory compliance under programs such as the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), state Clean Fuel Programs, Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations, ISCC, the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED), and other emerging sustainability programs. The position combines deep regulatory expertise with commercial acumen, enabling clients to reduce compliance risk while improving financial performance through environmental markets.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of comprehensive regulatory compliance programs for renewable fuel producers, serving as the executive sponsor and technical advisor for long-term client engagements. Ensure clients remain compliant with federal, state, and international renewable fuel regulations while building scalable processes that support ongoing operational success.

Advise clients on strategies to maximize the economic value of renewable fuels through optimization of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs), Low Carbon Fuel Standard credits, biogas tokens, carbon intensity pathways, and participation across multiple environmental credit markets. Provide guidance on fuel pathway selection, carbon intensity improvement opportunities, and regulatory positioning that enhances project profitability.

Design and implement complete compliance management systems, including regulatory reporting processes, data collection methodologies, recordkeeping systems, compliance monitoring plans, internal controls, and governance procedures that allow organizations to efficiently manage complex regulatory obligations.

Provide strategic consulting to executive leadership on renewable fuel commercialization, regulatory risk management, environmental credit markets, contract structures, financial implications of compliance decisions, and long-term business strategy. Support clients in evaluating investment decisions, market opportunities, and emerging regulatory developments affecting renewable fuels.

Oversee regulatory reporting activities including quarterly and annual EPA filings, pathway registrations, facility registrations, carbon intensity reporting, audit preparation, and ongoing interactions with regulatory agencies. Ensure all submissions are accurate, timely, and consistent with applicable regulations.

Guide clients through technical and operational compliance requirements by reviewing facility designs, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), monitoring and metering plans, compliance monitoring plans, and engineering documentation to ensure regulatory requirements are satisfied while improving operational efficiency.

Lead a team of compliance professionals responsible for delivering recurring advisory services, regulatory monitoring, compliance reviews, technical support, and client training. Establish best practices, mentor technical staff, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality consulting services across a diverse client portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with strong commercial instincts. They are equally comfortable interpreting complex regulations, advising executive leadership on business strategy, and leading consulting teams that deliver recurring compliance services. Success in this role requires exceptional analytical ability, sound business judgment, strong client relationship skills, and the ability to translate regulatory complexity into practical business solutions that create measurable value for clients.
