Director of Retail Media

Critical Requirement:
This role requires a true subject matter expert in Amazon Advertising with current, hands-on (“hands on keyboard”) experience. Strategic leadership is essential, but candidates must also have deep, practical expertise actively managing and optimizing Amazon Ads.
About the Role
The Director of Retail Media will lead and scale the retail media function, overseeing the execution of advertising solutions across Amazon and other platforms. This senior leader will be responsible for building and optimizing client-facing services, ensuring exceptional performance, and maintaining high standards of delivery in a fast-evolving retail media landscape.
This role partners closely with Sales, Account Management, Product, Data, and Operations to align strategy with execution and deliver measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & OversightDefine and execute the retail media strategy aligned with goals, operational excellence, and innovation
Ensure best-in-class service delivery with a strong focus on campaign performance, quality, and efficiency
Continuously improve processes, workflows, and systems to enhance scalability and satisfaction
Lead a client-first approach, delivering customized retail media solutions aligned to objectives, timelines, and budgets
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of account managers, campaign managers, and analysts
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and career development
Oversee staffing plans, workload distribution, and resource allocation to meet demand
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders
Serve as a trusted advisor, guiding clients on retail media strategy and optimization
Manage escalations and ensure timely, effective resolution
Deliver clear, data-driven reporting, insights, and optimization recommendations
Partner with Sales and Account Management to support solution design and onboarding
Collaborate with Product and Data teams to enhance capabilities and services
Align with Marketing to support positioning, messaging, and success stories
Establish best practices for campaign execution, budgeting, and onboarding
Own financial performance of the retail media function, including budgeting and profitability
Define and track KPIs related to satisfaction, campaign performance, and operational efficiency
Stay current on retail media trends, Amazon Ads updates, and emerging technologies
Integrate new best practices into service offerings
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Qualifications
Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or related field (MBA a plus)
10+ years of experience in retail media, digital advertising, or managed services
5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing client-facing teams or service delivery
Deep, hands-on experience with Amazon Advertising is required
Proven leadership and people development capabilities
Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills
Exceptional project management and execution ability
Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic retail media environment
Compensation & Benefits
$180,000–$230,000 base salary + bonus
