    Our client is a dynamic and growing privately held company with annual revenue of $500M, headquartered in San Diego. Known for its innovative approach and commitment to excellence, the company is poised for continued growth and success. They are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Accounting to join their leadership team and play a key role in driving the financial success of the organization. Company has little to no turnover and fosters employees long-term development. Director of Accounting could move into a VP/CFO level role within 5 years.

     

    Position Overview:

    The Director of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s accounting operations, including financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls. This individual will lead a team of accounting professionals, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided to support decision-making at the highest levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting leadership within large/start-up, complex organizations and possess the ability to navigate and optimize financial processes in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the accounting department, including the supervision and development of a team of accounting professionals.
    • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
    • Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and accounting procedures.
    • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial analysis and insights.
    • Collaborate with senior management to support strategic planning and business development initiatives.
    • Monitor and evaluate financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
    • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and controls.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred (not required).
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Experience in a $500M+ company or a $50M+ rapidly growing organization is highly desirable.
    • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is highly preferred (not required).
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory accounting requirements.
    • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems with strong Excel.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
