Position Summary
The Director of Coaching (DOC) is responsible for leading all aspects of coach recruitment, training, performance, and development. This role seeks to ensure that every child has an exceptional Soccer Shots experience by managing a high-performing team of coaches, aligned with our core values and mission. The DOC also leads and delegates to a full-time team who assist in evaluating, mentoring, and supporting coaches across the region.
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and manage a full-time team to support coach development and field operations.
• Lead and delegate responsibilities for coach evaluations, mentorship, and training while ensuring consistency and quality.
• Provide strategic direction and oversight through regular check-ins and coaching.
• Foster leadership development among team members.
Coach Recruitment & Onboarding
• Oversee recruitment, screening, interviewing, and hiring of coaches.
• Partner with the recruiting team and external partners to build strong candidate pipelines.
• Ensure seamless onboarding, background checks, and orientation for new hires.
Coach Training & Development
• Design and implement training programs for new and returning coaches, including seasonal workshops.
• Support full-time team in delivering in-field training and development.
• Lead regular coach meetings and development sessions to reinforce core values and curriculum standards.
Performance Management
• Ensure regular evaluations are completed for all coaches, with feedback and follow-up coaching plans.
• Maintain high accountability standards for curriculum delivery, punctuality, and professionalism.
• Implement performance improvement plans when necessary and support coach growth across skill levels.
Scheduling & Operations
• Coordinate with Programs and Operations teams to create and maintain seasonal coaching schedules.
• Manage sub coverage and respond to last-minute coaching changes.
• Approve time-off requests and ensure accurate payroll submissions.
· Oversee coaching gear, equipment, and supplies for the region.
Communication & Culture
• Serve as the central point of communication between coaches, leadership, and operations teams.
• Lead initiatives to build positive team culture, recognition programs, and team outings.
• Ensure all team members are informed, equipped, and supported in their roles.
Key Performance Metrics
• Coach retention, engagement, and satisfaction
• Net Promoter Score (NPS) from families and partners
• Timeliness and effectiveness of coach evaluations and training
• Quality of coaching sessions based on observations and feedback
• Leadership performance of full-time team
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree (required); degree in education, sport management, or a related field preferred
• 3–5+ years in youth sports leadership, coaching, or related management experience
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
• Proficiency in G-Suite, Microsoft Office, and online scheduling platforms
• Passion for youth development, soccer, and positive coaching
Working Environment
• Hybrid role: office, remote, and on-field presence required
• Includes evenings and weekends based on program needs
• Territory travel required to support coaches and attend events
