Director of Engineering, Rockford, IL

Responsibilities of the Director of Engineering

• Be responsible to lead a team of at least 11 engineers and technicians including the CAD, FEA and Engineering Laboratory
• Lead the engineering team to develop and design tight tolerance machined components and assemblies for use in the aerospace, commercial, heavy mobile equipment, medical and automotive industries
• Serve as a technical liaison while valuing being a key point of contact for customer relationships
• Lead your team to advance product improvements for existing and in-use product designs via Engineering Change Notices and other means
• Own engineering documentation including not only released drawings but prototypes, bills of materials, etc.
• Set departmental goals and performance metrics and measure accordingly for your team
• Be responsible to manage projects for the OEM customers and distributors

Requirements of the Director of Engineering

• Bachelor's degree in engineering for an accredited school is required
• Master's degree in engineering or other discipline is a plus
• At least 10 years of experience leading an engineering team
• PMP project certification is a plus
• Multidisciplinary product development background is a plus with preferably a background with machined components, hydraulics, pneumatics or mechatronics

Compensation for the Director of Engineering

The targeted annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $180,000 per year or more plus bonus depending on experience.
