    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead all aspects of our HR function and build the systems and processes that will sustain our continued growth.

    Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role oversees all HR operations and strategy, including talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, compensation, benefits, culture, and employee development. The Director will lead a small HR team and design an HR roadmap that supports scalability and alignment across both Cooper Tacia General Contracting and Cooper Equipment Rental.

    This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership position ideal for a self-directed professional who can independently develop and implement initiatives that drive organizational effectiveness and long-term success. Experience within the construction or equipment rental industry is strongly preferred.

    Responsibilities:

    Leadership & Strategy

    Partner with the COO and leadership team to align HR strategy with business growth objectives. 
    
    Lead and mentor a small HR team focused on excellence, accountability, and collaboration. 
    
    Create and manage the HR departmental budget; provide regular reports on HR metrics and workforce trends. 
    

    Culture & Engagement

    Champion the Cooper Tacia brand, values, and employee experience across all offices and divisions. 
    
    Foster communication, inclusion, and recognition to strengthen morale and engagement. 
    
    Build consistency in culture and HR practices across both companies. 
    

    Core HR Operations

    Oversee recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding processes. 
    
    Maintain accurate job descriptions, HR policies, and procedures aligned with best practices. 
    
    Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance improvement with fairness and confidentiality. 
    

    Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

    Administer payroll, benefits, and HR systems with accuracy and efficiency. 
    
    Benchmark compensation and benefits to ensure competitiveness and support retention. 
    
    Ensure compliance with all applicable employment and safety laws and regulations. 
    
    Serve as liaison for employment-related legal matters, contracts, and immigration. 
    

    Recruiting & Workforce Planning

    Partner with leaders to assess staffing needs and execute effective recruitment 	strategies. 
    
    Lead sourcing, interviewing, and hiring efforts to attract top talent. 
    
    Manage external recruiting partnerships and evaluate vendor performance. 
    

    Training & Development

    Oversee company training programs, budgets, and logistics. 
    
    Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and create targeted development opportunities. 
    
    Manage role-based certifications and professional training compliance. 
    
    Lead the internship program and maintain collegiate and trade school partnerships. 
    

    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field

    HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent) preferred.

    7+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.

    Proven ability to build scalable HR infrastructure in a growing small or mid-sized organization.

    Strong understanding of employment law, compensation, benefits, and workforce planning. 
    
    Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 
    
    Hands-on, adaptable leadership style suited to a fast-paced environment. 
    
    Experience in general contracting, construction, or equipment rental industries is a plus. 
    
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems. 
    

    Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $110,000 – $120,000 (10% annual bonus based on performance) Benefits:
