Director of Nursing (DON)

We are currently seeking a steady and team-focused Director of Nursing (DON) to join a 94-bed skilled nursing facility in Duplain, Michigan.

This facility has seen too many leaders cycle through and need a strong DON to set standards and create their own team. With no union, no agency, and a loyal CNA core, the building is overdue for a consistent clinical presence that can build trust, mentor younger nurse leaders, and raise expectations across the board. The administrator has been in place for 5 years and the MDS coordinator is strong and supportive. The census is budgeted at 65 and currently running around 58. The opportunity is about people, not systems and the team is ready for the right leader.

This is a full-time, permanent leadership role with a base salary target of $100,000 and a $15,000 sign-on bonus, with realistic performance-based incentives. Interviews are being scheduled immediately.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Michigan
• Prior DON experience or strong ADON ready to step up
• Demonstrated success in clinical team leadership
• Solid understanding of compliance and clinical systems
• Calm presence with the ability to rebuild team trust and accountability

Responsibilities

• Provide stable, consistent clinical leadership across the building
• Lead and support unit managers and newer nurse leaders
• Collaborate with strong MDS nurse to ensure compliance and documentation accuracy
• Reinforce expectations, accountability, and nurse engagement
• Serve as clinical face of the building with staff, families, and referral sources
