Job Purpose: We're seeking a Director of Proposals to own our RFP function from end to end—someone who can strategically build a world-class organization while personally leading and winning high-stakes proposals. This role requires rolling up your sleeves to write compelling RFPs for our GIS consulting services today while architecting the systems and team that will scale our success tomorrow. You'll split your time between hands-on execution (60-70%) and team leadership (30-40%), with the opportunity to build and lead a team as we grow.
Job Description and Requirements:
Hands-On Execution (Player): · Personally write and manage complex, high-value proposals from kickoff through submission, ensuring quality and on-time delivery · Craft compelling, client-focused content that differentiates our technical offerings and articulates clear value propositions · Coordinate cross-functional teams to gather technical content, pricing, and required documentation · Lead client presentations, interviews, and negotiation processes as needed.
Strategic Leadership (Coach): · Develop and implement comprehensive RFP strategy aligned with company growth objectives · Design scalable processes, workflows, and systems to improve win rates and operational efficiency · Establish bid/no-bid frameworks, qualification criteria, and pipeline management processes · Build content libraries, templates, and knowledge management systems · Identify resource needs and hiring strategy to build a high-performing team over time · Track metrics and conduct win/loss analysis to continuously improve outcomes
Required Qualifications: · 8+ years RFP/proposal management experience with proven track record of wins · Exceptional writing ability—you can translate complex and technical concepts into clear, persuasive narratives that win business · Strong project management skills managing multiple concurrent proposals under tight deadlines · Strategic mindset with ability to design scalable processes while maintaining hands-on execution · Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including executives · Self-starter mentality with entrepreneurial drive to build something from scratch · GIS experience ideal
What Success Looks Like First 90 days: · Personally lead 3-5 proposals to successful submission with quality improvements · Implement initial process improvements and content library foundation
