    Director of Quality Assurance

    Our client is a multi-million producer of plant-based seasonings and spices. They are the largest supplier of garlic to America's supermarkets. Reporting to the VP Quality Assurance, the role will run Quality and Food Safety at their packing house in Central California. This facility has 100 full-time employees, 300-400 seasonal employees. They will be supervising a QA Manager and 8-10 technicians. This is a non-union, 24-7 facility.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Monitors activities to ensure quality and food safety of products produced comply with customer requirements and federal, state, and local regulations. Is a trained PCQI and GFSI Food Practitioner. Ensures associates comply with company policies, procedures, food safety and guidelines to ensure safe, efficient operations. Leads the quality, food safety and sanitation function for the site.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Contribute to the growth and profitability of the business, with management oversight for day-to-day operations in Quality.
    • Directs and manages all Quality Assurance employees, ensuring quality standards are maintained in terms of product, service, safety, and sanitation.
    • Implements and maintains a service and management philosophy that serves as a guide to respective associates.
    • Facilitates special projects as directed by the Executive Leadership Team. Serves as a resource and provides solutions to direct report supervisors and associates.
    • Responsible for all scheduling, training and development of associates. Maintains all policy standards, culture of accountability and responsibility, and holds individuals accountable for such. Research and development of new policies, procedures, and control policies that elevate service standards and accountability of staff.
    • Maintains positive client and guest relations. Responds to client requests and ensure alignment to company standards. Will investigate and follow through on client and guest complaints.
    • Manage the process for ordering and maintaining all inventories for food and beverage, maintain cost control efforts for labor and waste management and conduct meetings updating staff on daily goals and objectives.

      Requirements:

    • Minimum of 10 years' of operational Quality experience. or 10 years in agricultural or farming industry, having developed a farm or seed program.
    • Prefer a BS in Agriculture
    • Minimum of 10 years' of training experience and multiple-unit opening experience preferred.
    • Experience directing and strategically planning successful projects with tight timelines and deliverables; multiple project management experience preferred.
    • Strong relationship management, talent development, and team-building skills.
    • Ability to effectively manage and stay within operating budgets.
    • Excellent project management, verbal, written, time management, and communication skills.
    • Proficiencies in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint, Birchstreet experience a plus
