    We are seeking a dynamic Director of Rooms to join our team. A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the hospitality industry and an entrepreneurial spirit.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    1. Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.

    2. Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel.

    3. Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions.

    4. Maintain “open door” communication with employees.

    5. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the Rooms division and operate the hotel in the absence of the General Manager following internal, regional and The LINE policies and procedures.

    6. Develop maximum profits through cost and labor control .

    7. Maintain the highest standard of services to the guest, including maintenance and cleanliness for the guests’ rooms and associated facilities.

    8. Maintain the highest standards of security for hotel patrons and employees.

    9. Direct and coordinate the Rooms Division.

    10. Carry out all policies and prepare reports established by The LINE and the General Manager.

    11. Assist in managing 3rd party vendors in the rooms division.

    12. Conduct employee performance evaluations as prescribed and ensure that all employees are trained for their positions to maximize service, production and efficiency; control staffing, maximize profits, control costs and ensure the security of the operation.

    13. Clearly describe, assign, and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various sub-departments under his/her supervision.

    14. Conduct appropriate meetings and coordinate with the other department heads to ensure that proper communication leads to guest satisfaction and maximum profit and productivity.

    15. Direct and coordinate the Rooms Division operations to meet the daily needs of the hotel, including, but not limited to, staffing, forecasting, controlling, and supervision.

    16. Implement company programs and manage the operations of the rooms division in a manner consistent with federal, state and local laws and regulations and LINE policies and procedures to ensure a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.

    17. Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.

    18. Direct and coordinate with the Executive Housekeeper to ensure that housekeeping procedures are established to maximize production, regulate linen and housekeeping supplies and to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.

    19. Certify that procedures and controls are implemented for the laundry operation.

    20. Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws.

    21. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned and participate in task forces and committees as requested.

    22. Ensure staff understands their job expectations before holding them accountable.

    23. Maintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee files.

    24. Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements.

    25. Attend relevant meetings.

    Knowledge, Requirements and Skills

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.

    At least four (4) years of supervisory experience in Front Office/Housekeeping/Guest required.

    Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the Rooms discipline and hospitality profession, including experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems.

    Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil right, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations.

    Must possess supervisory and management skills to communicate and express ideas and directives clearly to employees.

    Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular), Outlook, and Opera.

    Basic knowledge of computer accounting programs.

    Math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.

    Hotel Property Management System knowledge.

    Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

    Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English Language.

    Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

    Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    Excellent attention to detail.

    Ability to multitask.

    Work well under pressure, be a team player.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    2. The person having this responsibility may have to lift up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.

    3. The person having this position may have to sit for eight (8) hours, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for one (1) hour per day.
