Jennie Joiner with Form Group PNW is assisting our Springfield, Oregon manufacturing client with filling a Director of Sales position. Our client is seeking a high-impact, hands-on Director of Sales to lead sales strategy and execution for a growing Outdoor, Retail, and Brand-focused division. This role is ideal for a proven sales leader who can balance big-picture planning with day-to-day leadership. Someone who understands how to drive revenue while elevating brand presence in competitive retail environments will do well in this role. This leader will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional partners to expand market share, strengthen retailer relationships, and build scalable sales support tools that help teams win. This position will report to the VP of Sales and supervise a team of approximately 30 inside and outside salespeople.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Sales Strategy & Growth Leadership
- Create and execute a sales strategy focused on growth within outdoor retail, specialty channels, and brand partnerships.
- Partner directly with leadership to align divisional goals with overall company direction.
- Strengthen and expand relationships with key accounts and national retailers.
- Identify new opportunities in the outdoor and sporting goods market and guide entry into the right channels.
Team Leadership & Coaching
- Lead, mentor, and develop a collaborative sales organization including inside sales and outside representatives.
- Support and coach sales leaders responsible for outside representation and key house accounts.
- Build a culture of accountability, strong follow-through, and excellent customer experience.
- Lead by example with a “no job too small” approach—willing to jump in and help when needed.
Cross-Functional Brand & Market Alignment
- Partner with Product, Merchandising, and Creative teams to align retail strategy with brand positioning.
- Use market insights and account feedback to influence product direction and merchandising assortments.
- Ensure brand consistency and excellence across sales presentations, displays, and marketplace visibility.
Sales Enablement & Market Tools
- Lead the development of tools and resources that support sales success across channels, including:
- Sample planning and strategy
- Catalogs, lookbooks, and sales presentations
- Trade show assortments and merchandising plans
- Curated assortments tailored for various retail environments
- Improve processes, communication, and readiness across sales teams and support functions.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Proven success in a sales leadership role within apparel, sporting goods, outdoor retail, or branded consumer products.
- Strong experience managing and growing relationships with major retailers and complex accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coach sales talent, and drive performance.
- Comfortable working closely across departments to support brand growth and execute in-market strategies.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with sports TEAM markets – including even fishing, hunting, kayak teams, etc.
- Experience in decorated apparel or custom product categories.
- Experience developing early-career sales professionals and building scalable sales support.
Education
- Experience with sales and leadership is valued over degree
Compensation
- Base Salary: $160,000–$170,000
- Bonus: Yes — growth-based incentive plan paid twice per year (July & December)
- Relocation Assistance: Negotiable (typically around $5,000)
