Director of Software Quality Assurance
$200,000-$230,000 base + Stock Options
Hybrid – Austin, TX (3 days/week)
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Director of Software Quality Assurance, you will be reporting directly to the CTO and you will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of software that our client releases will be of the highest standard. You will manage a team of quality engineers and will make sure that our client has the appropriate organizational structure, process, and tooling to make sure that software quality is built into the SDLC and that testing is efficient and effective.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Act as the customer advocate on the product engineering leadership team
- Manage a team of between 15 and 20 quality engineers
- Manage the performance of the team - ensuring we have the right talent in the right roles.
- Create appropriate software quality KPIs, metrics, and goals to help manage the team and communicate at an executive level
- Ensure that testing and QA processes are built into every facet of our SDLC
- Work together with leaders across the organization to deliver the highest quality software standards
- Ensure that all appropriate process and tooling is in place to ensure product quality
- Make sure all new products and features are adequately tested and held to rigorous standards before they are deployed.
- Develop and implement our test automation strategy
- Manage our testing labs and environments
- Engage in regular performance, load, and scale testing on every part of our application and infrastructure
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- 5+ years of experience as a quality assurance manager / director
- 5+ years of experience as a quality engineer
- Strong understanding of test frameworks (eg: JUnit, Playwright, Jest, pytest, Selenium)
- Solid programming knowledge (Typescript, Python, Java)
- Experience with Git
- Strong understanding of architecture and DB
- Able to address proper testing ways and techniques for the defined architecture and development
- Support engineers in test in career path and their daily work
- Strong executive communication skills.
