    About Us

DoorStep Urgent Care, in partnership with the Children's Clinic of Fredericksburg, is a fast-growing pediatric mobile urgent care startup delivering compassionate, high-quality healthcare directly to families at their DoorStep. We’re reimagining pediatric urgent care by offering accessible, parent-friendly care that meets families where they are—literally. As we continue to grow and expand our impact across Virginia, we are looking for a driven, strategic, and solutions-oriented leader to join our team.

    Position Overview

The Director of Strategic Initiatives will serve as a key member of the leadership team and act as a thought partner to the COO. This person will monitor business operations and lead special initiatives that drive efficiency, profitability, and scalable growth. While this role encompasses many traditional operational leadership duties, it also prioritizes innovation, cross-functional leadership, and execution of high-impact projects across departments.

This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a startup environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and has a deep understanding of healthcare operations and strategic planning.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Operations

    • Monitor business operations, ensuring clinical and administrative processes run efficiently and in compliance with healthcare standards.
    • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in service delivery, scheduling, patient experience, and mobile logistics.
    • Lead process improvement initiatives using data to drive decisions.
    • Implement systems that improve workflow, staffing utilization, and quality assurance.

    Business Growth & Innovation

    • Collaborate with the COO to identify, evaluate, and implement new growth opportunities (e.g., expansion to new regions, service lines, school-based health initiatives).
    • Manage business planning for strategic partnerships and new programs.
    • Track KPIs and business metrics to measure success and adapt strategies accordingly.

    Project & Team Leadership

    • Lead cross-functional projects that align with business objectives (marketing, clinical, operations, tech enablement, etc.).
    • Support talent development through collaboration with the operations and clinical managers.
    • Help build a performance-driven culture while supporting employee satisfaction and retention.

    Compliance & Financial Oversight

    • Collaborate with finance and billing teams to optimize revenue cycle, inventory ordering and cost efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, licensure, and insurance requirements.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or related field (Master’s preferred).
    • 7+ years in healthcare operations, business administration, or startup leadership, ideally with pediatric or urgent care experience.
    • Proven experience leading strategic initiatives or operational improvements in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in mobile healthcare, telehealth, or community-based care delivery.
    • Familiarity with EHR systems, scheduling platforms, and workflow automation tools.
    • Passion for pediatric healthcare and improving access for underserved populations.

    Key Attributes

    • Strategic thinker who can also execute tactically.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action.
    • Excellent communicator and collaborator.
    • High emotional intelligence and integrity.
    • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change.

    Why Join Us?

    • Be part of an innovative, mission-driven team redefining how families access pediatric care.
    • Enjoy a collaborative and supportive startup culture with opportunities for growth.
    • Make a lasting impact in the community by helping build a scalable and compassionate healthcare model.
