    Job Description

    The Chef Assistant is responsible to work with the Chef for quality foods prepared in a timely fashion for lunch and dinner. The Chef Assistant is sensitive to the specific dietary needs of the population he/she serves, maintains the food supply in the kitchen pantry and the grocery budget along with food ordering. Responsibilities include dietary support, client menu planning, food preparation, maintaining a clean and well stocked kitchen and client meal serving.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists Chef in ordering grocery and food service supplies.
    • Prepares lunch and dinner.
    • Serves clients during meal time in a timely manner
    • Works one on one with clients or in groups for cooking demonstrations.
    • Keeps kitchen clean, sanitary and safe through infection control procedures.
    • Adheres to kitchen protocols and procedures.
    • May be required to travel to other facilities from time to time to attend trainings

    This is a part-time position working Sat-Sun: 9-7pm

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Required: Must also have the ability to provide documentation or obtain a state required food handlers permit, or Serve Safe Certification, upon hire.
    • Preferred: pursuing a career in the field of Nutrition, through an Accredited Undergraduate Program in Nutrition or Diet Tech Certification Program
    • Must have experience in food preparation in a healthcare facility for 18 or more clients.
    • Must possess a knowledge of Culinary skills and have the ability to cook for a difficult population.
