  • Responsibilities

    The Mortgage Loan Officer will initiate the mortgage process for potential clients, preparing, analyzing, and verifying mortgage loan applications for the purchase or refinance of real estate.

    • Provides every client with exceptional customer service; responds to all inbound communication requests (phone, email, or text) within 2 business hours; operates like a mortgage call center working inbound leads.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced, 100% remote sales environment; must be able to close a minimum of 10 loans per month after 90 days of employment.
    • Meets with and interviews potential and current clients to understand their lending needs including first-time mortgages and refinance of existing loans.
    • Explains the differences between and approval requirements of various types of mortgages; prepares and presents a lending package based on client specifications
    • Assists clients with completion of mortgage applications, inspecting completed documents for accuracy and thoroughness
    • Reviews loan applications, gathers credit histories and reports, and assesses applicants’ capacity to repay and default risk
    • Based on predetermined requirements, assesses, and grants or rejects mortgage applications.
    • Views or visits property for real estate purchase or refinance
    • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the local real estate market; current and predicted lending rates; and changes in rules, regulations, and best practices of various mortgages
    • Develops and maintains contacts with local realtors, developers, and builders to promote and encourage the use of District Lending services for residential mortgages.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Thorough understanding of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), and other types of construction and conventional loans
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar

    Required Qualifications:

    • 3 years of sales experience
    • 3+ years’ experience as a Loan Officer
    • 3+ years’ experience working and closing purchase loans
    • Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license in at least three of the state’s District Lending currently holds a license*
    • Certification by the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) National and State testing
    • Must be able to bring your own home office set-up and equipment to the role to include computer or laptop with functional camera & audio, as well as high-speed, reliable internet

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Self-starter who thrives in an extremely paced, 100% remote, sales environment; you’ll be closing in-bound, warm internet leads while simultaneously managing a locked pipeline.
    • Must have experience working and closing purchase loans for clients; we primarily do purchase loans with some cash-out refinances. We do not want candidates who mainly have re-finance experience.
    • High-volume mortgage call center experience highly desired; you’ll spend a ton of time communicating with clients over phone, text, and email
    • Skilled in using online sales CRM software to manage and close in-bound warm internet leads
