District Partners LLC has been retained by a leading Architecture and Design firm based in Washington DC to hire a successor to the incumbent CFO who is retiring after many years with the firm.
The opportunity: Lead the Finance & Accounting function for an established, privately held A&D firm with a strong footprint in the DC and Dallas, Texas metropolitan areas. Operating with a great deal of autonomy and as a business/finance advisor to the partners, spearhead the accounting and reporting activities, manage a small team of operational accountants, work with CPA firm to ensure proper tax planning and filing, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present financial statements, dashboard reporting, and other related business/financial management reports to partnership
- Treasury management - cash flow management and projections, own banking relationships, investments, 401k plan administration, etc.
- Maintain billing rates and annual review process
- Operations - assist with contract reviews and represent the financial function in other operational initiatives such as managing Certified Business Entity filing, state registrations, etc.
- Maintain accounting and reporting software (Deltek Ajera) and ensure optimal use
- Liaise with HR leader and participate in the annual medical insurance renewal and 401k administration
- Preparation of sales and use tax returns, personal property tax returns and work with CPA firm for the preparation of partnership tax returns and annual financial statements
Your skill set:
- Demonstrated ability and skill set required to lead finance & accounting function of a A&D firm
- 10-15+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance with the past several years in a leadership capacity
- CPA strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with project accounting within Architecture & Design or other related industry positions or recent experience serving A&D firm clients if in public accounting
- Refined presentation and communication skill set
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and lead a high performing finance function
