    Life Deeds is a non-profit organization community-based initiative serving high-risk adolescents/young adults throughout the District of Columbia and Maryland. Partnering with the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS), the Life Deeds Group will provide housing and support to adolescents and young adults in the District of Columbia.

    Scheduled Work Times

    Part-time (16-20 hours)

    Full-time (40 hours)

    Hours: Monday - Friday 4:00 pm – 12:00 am

    12:00 am – 8:00am

    Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am – 8:00 pm

    8:00 pm – 8:00 am

    Job Summary:

    The Residential Aide provides 24-hour on-site monitoring services to support the wellbeing and safety of all residents, staff and visitors, and works cooperatively with the program administrator and staff at all levels to ensure quality of service by performing the duties set forth below.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Monitors the residents, units, and grounds of Group Home at all times to ensure the security and safety of each resident

    Responsible for the reporting, planning and implementation of the activity schedule

    Makes regular house check inspections inside the building to include checking individual rooms when necessary as well as the area immediately outside

    Maintains all necessary records, including but not limited to legible, comprehensive, and accurate reports of house activities in the house log

    Provides crisis intervention and on-site counseling

    Plans, schedules, organizes, and supervises recreational activities

    Carries out emergency fire evacuation, and emergency procedures in case of an illness or accident

    Provides de-escalation services to the residents as needed and to ensure safety and well-being of all residents, staff, and visitors, including contacting MPD, DYRS, mental health provider, as necessary

    Reports unusual incidents to the appropriate parties OR writes unusual incident reports

    Provides office coverage by answering and recording all calls and visitors

    Provides appropriate oversight to the participants and maintains supervision of the house, enforces house rules, and ensures house safety

    Participates in training provided or recommended by the Agency or Program Administrator

    Participates in regular supervision with Program Director

    Attends and participates in staff meetings and other meetings/activities identified by the Program Administrator

    Performs other job-related duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Residential Aides have no supervisory responsibilities

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Work in collaboration with the Director, Program Administrator, House Manager and the resident’s Case Manager

    Attend and participate in all required meetings

    Participate in group work with residents

    Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with diverse clientele

    Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite

    Attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow through required, exceptional problem-solving capabilities

    Ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and or service providers or professionals

    Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification and some work experience, preferably with the homeless, high risk adolescents/young adults

    Must learn and apply positive behavior modification techniques and model effective de-escalation and problem-solving skills

    Must have the ability to obtain and sustain various local and FBI background and clearance checks as required

    Must have and maintain a current driver’s license and be able to transport adolescents/young adults and staff as needed. (Only if assigned as transportation)

    Possess basic computer skills and great customer service skills

    Good verbal and written communication skills

    Must be detailed orientated and able to multi-task

    Ability to work extra hours, attend meetings/training, when needed

    Licenses and Certifications

    Must have valid driver’s license and a clean driving record along with proof of automobile insurance to transport residents.
