    Job Description

    Dixon Studios is a design fabrication and installation company that specializes in natural history exhibits for museums, zoos, aquariums, and visitors’ centers. We have been in business since 1993. We operate out of a 17,000 sq ft facility in Tucson, AZ.  This is a complete manufacturing facility including administrative offices. The offices house a full staff of Project Managers, Estimators, Project Engineers, and Administrative support team. We are currently looking for an experienced CONTROLLER TO JOIN OUR TEAM!

    POSITION SUMMARY:  As a critical member of the Dixon Studios Team, the Controller is responsible for Dixon Studios’ financial activities and financial reporting to include cash management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and applicable taxes. All month and year end accounting activities must be coordinated with Pacific Studio, Inc., the parent company of Dixon Studios, LLC. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Cost Accounting and Job analysis, preferably in a custom job shop or engineered to order job shop.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Executive

    •      Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the management team

    •      Keep management and Pacific Studio, Inc. fully informed on the financial health of the company and the factors influencing it; make recommendations based on this information

    •      Identify and initiate process improvements of financial processes and systems

    •      Ensure compliance with internal control procedures; introduce additional controls as needed

    Financial Planning & Analysis

    •      Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the management team and Pacific Studio, Inc.

    •      Prepare annual budget

    •      Complete insightful ad-hoc analysis and reports to support the organization

    •      Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions

    •      Participate in management group by tracking GP reports, job profitability, customer profitability, etc.

    Financial Reporting

    • Direct all aspects of accounting operations in coordination with Controller of Pacific Studio
    • Complete the month end close, preparation and review of internal financial reports, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner

    ·         Coordinate annual audit or review with outside CPA firm, provide audit documentation to support independent auditors’ annual review and preparation of year-end financial statements

    Banking

    • Responsible for daily cash management and maintaining cash flow requirements
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
    • Ensure ongoing banking relationships are in the best interest of Pacific Studio

    Taxes

    • Research taxability of interstate sales and pursue letter rulings when necessary or advantageous
    • File and maintain all required state and local business licenses
    • Prepare and file all state and local tax returns

    Payroll & Benefits

    •      Supervise payroll and payroll taxes

    •      Advise on pay and other remuneration issues

     

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    •      Four year degree

    •      Four years’ experience in accounting, or CPA

    •      Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

    •      Must have fundamental understanding of, and previous experience with, Epicor or other project-based ERP databases

    •      Must be able to communicate easily and clearly in English, both written and spoken

    •      Must be able to legally work for any employer in the United States of America

    QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

    •      Previous experience in an art/production/manufacturing type environment

    •      Functional knowledge of Epicor
