DoMyOwn.com, a division of Central Garden and Pet is one of the largest online retailers of professional grade pest control, lawn and gardening, and animal care products for the do-it-yourself market in the United States. Our digital product team is growing and we are looking for a software engineer to help build new customer facing experiences. THIS POSITION CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN THE US WITH A PREFERENCE FOR CANDIDATES IN THE EASTERN TIME ZONE.

OVERVIEW:

We are looking to add a software engineer to our e-commerce development team. Our applications are built using PHP and we are searching for a candidate with DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE BUILDING CUSTOMER FACING APPLICATIONS IN A PHP FRAMEWORK such as Laravel. The ideal candidate has previous experience working in a team or squad environment for a small to mid size company.

YOUR STRENGTHS

As a software engineer, you can generally operate on your own to solve technical problems. You have demonstrated experience accomplishing defined acceptance criteria while building customer facing technology. You have experience working with other software engineers on a team and work well together as a unit in a fast pace environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with a team of full stack developers to design, develop, unit test, and support new customer facing e-commerce features.
• Design, engineer and integrate APIs.
• Proactively learn the code base and software frameworks used by the team
• Manage and deploy code using GIT
• Review project requirements, code to spec, and document code.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated experience building applications using a PHP framework such as Laravel.
• Experience with Javascript frameworks such as Vue JS.
• Experience with unit-testing and working with QA/Test engineers.
• Familiarity with PSR coding standards (PHP-FIG).
• Very strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Must be highly self-motivated and a self-starter​.
• Experience building and maintaining code related to an E-Commerce platform is a plus.
• Experience with MySQL queries and PHP queues strongly preferred
• Strong ability and desire to learn and understand new technologies, frameworks and coding methodologies.
