    Idaho Material Handling is currently seeking outstanding candidates in the Idaho Falls area to join our service team as a Dock & Door Technician. The Dock & Door technician will primarily install, repair, and maintain overhead mechanical doors and all types of dock leveler equipment at our customer locations. Ideally, we would like someone with a mechanical background who could also perform routine maintenance & basic service on forklifts as well.     Type: Full-Time (M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Install new or modified commercial overhead door systems, dock seals bumpers and all types of dock leveler equipment.
    • Ensure installation projects meet both customer expectations and design requirements.
    • Provides on-site technical assistance to inspect and troubleshoot malfunctioning or damaged equipment and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
    • May assist our Forklift Service department by performing basic preventative maintenance (PM Service) on forklift equipment such as tune-ups, oil changes, checking tires and brakes, replacing batteries, etc.
    • Coordinates problem resolution with manager and/or the customer to expedite repairs.
    • Operate lifts and winches and carry springs to the tops of doors and replace worn or broken parts, like springs, openers, and brackets, remove or place defective doors or openers and install completely new door systems.
    • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
    • Uses mechanical skills and learns new techniques to remain current with product requirements for installing and servicing various types of commercial doors.
    • Document service and installation by completing work orders, inspection checklist, order new parts, collect payments and provide estimates.
    • Work with the parts department to obtain parts and technical information needed to repair equipment.
    • Operate lift trucks and equipment as required.
    • Maintain a service truck and its inventory.
    • May assist in the installation and service of other material handling equipment.
    • Comply with all safety standards and OSHA regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • One-year previous experience installing commercial doors
    • Knowledge of electrical wiring and basic welding techniques are a plus
    • We’re willing to train the right person with strong mechanical aptitude

    Qualifications:

    • Must have a mechanical aptitude
    • Welding and fabrication skills
    • Comply with all safety rules and regulations both within the company premises as well as on customer’s jobsites, including client specific on-site training.
    • Abide by all OSHA, DOT, and site-specific safety precautions.
    • Knowledge and ability to properly utilize a variety of hand and power tools.
    • Utilize sound decision making and problem-solving practices.
    • Has experience with rigging and lifting equipment with cranes, forklifts, telehandler, etc.
    • Proper and safe use of company vehicles, comfortable towing and backing up trailers as well as securing loads with chains or straps as necessary.
    • Work efficiently with others.
    • Quick comprehension, flexible and punctual.
    • High standard of quality and attention to detail.
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited direct supervision after training.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
    • Capable of comfortably working at heights on scissor lift, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
    • Willingness to travel if necessary and work occasional overtime hours.
    • Must have a valid drivers’ license with a good driving record (CDL preferred).
    • All personnel will be governed by DOT rules when operating company vehicles.
    • Must be able to pass background checks and random drug screenings.
    • Positive attitude and ability to comply with company policies and procedures.
    • Maintain and strengthen customer relationships by acting professionally and as a representation of HOJ & Idaho Material Handling.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to stand and work for long hours with necessary tools and PPE
    • Able to perform physical labor including lifting/moving heavy objects up to 100 lbs., prolonged standing, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and reaching.
    • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various year-round weather conditions
