ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST @ THE WANDERLUST GROUP

We are searching for an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance/Accounting team in Portland, ME, or remotely, and to enhance the TWG product experience for marinas and boaters all across the country.

As an Accounting Specialist @ TWG you will:

• Manage customer contracts, renewals, and billing inquiries
• Analyze expenditures and recommend ways to reduce costs
• Prepare tax and compliance documents
• Enter accounting related information into business logs
• Inspect accounting records for accuracy and completeness
• Organize and update financial records
• Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy and compliance
• Conduct month-end and year-end closures
• Implement procedures to improve financial operational efficiency
• Assist the support team in responding to client accounting inquiries
• Prepare financial reports as needed to support management and leadership

We think the best candidates will:

• Love technology and exploring new systems
• Have 1-3 years of similar experience as an accountant, analyst, bookkeeper, clerk, or similar role in the accounting, finance, technology, or travel industries
• Demonstrate attention to detail by adding the word “Porcupine” to the footer of their resume submission
• Possess excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets; very good with spreadsheets
• Bring experience with accounting information systems
• Have good math skills
• Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills, with an emphasis on discretion and integrity
• Be willing to learn in a fast paced, ever changing environment
• Have earned a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• Progress towards a CPA, CMA, or a similar professional designation is a plus

You will work with, and learn from, a talented team of finance, data, product, and engineering professionals. The Accountant Specialist role will report directly to the SVP of Finance. You will have the opportunity to shape and design accounting systems, procedures, and policies for a quickly growing outdoor tech company.

The Wanderlust Group is a unique company.  A hybrid B2B and B2C business, we connect boaters to marinas and campers to campgrounds.  Because we believe in the value of putting screens down and  getting outside, the entire company practices offline Mondays.  Spend your Mondays hiking, thinking, reading, sailing.
