    Location: It’s A Dog’s Life Resort & Spa – Wixom, Michigan

    Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

    Reports To: Pet Resort Director

    Pay Range: $13.50 - $16.00 per hour DOE

    Position Summary:

    The Dog Boarding Attendant is responsible for the overall cleanliness, safety, and comfort of the dogs in our care. This role involves hands-on support to ensure that every suite or crate remains clean and that each guest receives appropriate care, monitoring, and attention. A vital part of the team, the Dog Boarding Attendant ensures a healthy, enriching environment for our dogs while upholding the highest sanitation and operational standards throughout our 11,000 sq. ft. resort.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Escort dogs safely to and from suites, play yards, grooming, and daycare areas.

    Ensure all dog suites and crates remain clean and sanitary throughout each shift.

    Maintain the cleanliness and disinfection of all facility areas, including indoor/outdoor play yards, restrooms, mop rooms, laundry rooms, dog bowls, crates, bedding, enrichment items, floors, walls, windows, and food prep areas.

    Administer basic care such as wiping down dogs using waterless shampoo to prevent skin irritation.

    Perform basic health checks and accurately document observations in client records.

    Assist with food prep and water distribution according to dietary needs and feeding schedules.

    Remove dog waste and perform facility upkeep, including snow removal and weed pulling as needed.

    Follow all safety protocols and properly handle cleaning products and equipment.

    Participate in enrichment activities and training programs (once probationary requirements are met).

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED preferred.

    1-2 years of experience in animal care or working in a dog boarding/daycare facility.

    Strong cleaning and sanitation experience required.

    Able to work independently and in a team environment.

    Physically able to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous tasks.

    Strong observation, communication, and organizational skills.

    Must complete in-house training, Pet CPR, and First Aid certification within a designated time frame.

    Work Environment:

    This role requires physical activity, exposure to various chemicals, cleaning solutions, weather conditions, and regular contact with animals of all breeds and sizes.
