Position Overview The Groomer is a hands-on role responsible for providing safe, high-quality grooming services within a full-service pet boarding facility offering boarding, enrichment services, dog training, and grooming. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Groomer ensures all grooming services are performed professionally, humanely, and in alignment with facility standards, while supporting overall animal care and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities – Grooming & Animal Care ● Perform professional grooming services including bathing, brushing, drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and breed-appropriate haircuts ● Safely handle dogs of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and coat types ● Assess coat and skin condition and communicate concerns to management when necessary ● Ensure all grooming tools, tubs, tables, and work areas are cleaned and sanitized between dogs ● Maintain a calm, controlled, and positive environment during grooming sessions ● Monitor dogs for signs of stress, discomfort, or health concerns and respond appropriately ● Execute all responsibilities in alignment with the company’s core values and mission Client Experience & Communication ● Provide a professional, positive experience for pet parents ● Communicate grooming needs, services performed, and observations clearly with clients or front desk staff ● Answer basic grooming-related questions and escalate concerns when necessary ● Support front desk operations when needed, including assisting with check-in and check-out related to grooming appointments Facility Standards & Safety ● Follow all safety, sanitation, and humane handling protocols ● Adhere to grooming SOPs, emergency procedures, and facility policies ● Maintain a clean, organized, and professional grooming area at all times ● Assist with documenting grooming notes, incidents, or behavior observations when required Team Collaboration ● Attend scheduled staff meetings, training sessions, and grooming-related meetings as required ● Assist
Qualifications ● Prior professional dog grooming experience required (1-3 min) ● Knowledge of dog breeds, coat types, and grooming techniques ● Strong animal handling and safety awareness ● Excellent attention to detail and time management skills ● Calm, patient, and confident demeanor with dogs ● Dependable, organized, and self-motivated ● Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday • Ability to safely handle dogs of various sizes and strength levels • Comfortable working in a kennel environment with noise, odors, and cleaning chemicals
